The West Midlands Fire Service Pipe Band is a traditional Pipe Band. Members are volunteers from all sections of the community and of all ages. It was originally formed in 1946 as the Birmingham Scottish Pipe Band and amalgamated with the West Midlands Fire Service in 1992.
The Band wears traditional Scottish dress with Ancient Red Macpherson tartan. For occasions such as Remembrance Day Parades, the military style uniform is used complete with feather bonnets and plaids. The uniform is supplied to members of the Band on loan, free of charge, as are the instruments.
