Fire Service Training Centre
The West Midlands Fire Service enjoys a long tradition of providing high quality training for its own personnel, and over recent years has undertaken training of personnel from other Fire Services, from commerce and industry, and from the community at large.
Our Training Centre is a purpose built modern complex equipped with the highest quality facilities and has been awarded the ISO 9002 quality standard by the British Standards Institution. It has also obtained recognition as an approved and accredited training centre by the Institution of Fire Engineers.
The Training Centre offers a comprehensive range of training in all the technical and practical aspects of firefighting and includes:
Initial Firefighter Training
Delivering training for Trainee and Probationer firefighters.
Operational Training
Providing specialist training in Breathing Apparatus equipment and use, Road Traffic Accident procedures, first aid training, the care and handling of casualties at incidents and for fires where extreme conditions occure.
Driver Training
Delivering initial and advanced driving courses, as well as aerial fire engines and specialist unit training.
Development Training
Offering a wide range of courses for career progression through the rank structure of the fire service including junior and senior officer development.
