Primary Targeted Performance Indicators

We are constantly monitoring the performance we give to the people of Wolverhampton. We do this by setting targets against particular indicators. Although all of our indicators are important to us we strive to have the greatest impact on the ones that affect the people of Wolverhampton the most for example

  • Reduce Accidental Dwellings and Injuries from fires
  • Reduce Arson in Local Businesses

Prevention Based Activity Initiatives

  • Roadside Stops - West Midlands Fire Service in the Wolverhampton command is working with local Police traffic units who patrol and stop any driver committing minor crimes whilst driving.
  • Wolverhampton Homes - Wolverhampton Homes manages the Council's housing stock within the city and is working with local firefighters to increase fire safety in the home awareness by delivering HFSC’s and increasing smoke alarm ownership.
  • ABCD Mentoring Scheme. - The ABCD project covers an area of Wolverhampton including Blakenhall and All Saints. The project looks at reducing anti social behaviour and fire setting within the area.
  • Brinsford Young Offenders institute - Firefighters from Wolverhampton run an educational training package on a weekly basis within the walls of the young offenders’ Institute following a successful pilot scheme run early this year.
  • Operational Risk - There are many risks faced by our operational crews when undertaking their firefighting duties. One of the ways to reduce that risk is to provide firefighters with the most up to date information on premises using state of the art technology. To this end crews from the Wolverhampton area will be undertaking surveys of specific sites, producing plans, pictures of key utilities and key information including any hazardous chemicals stored or processes undertaken. This information will be uploaded to a mobile computer system and will be immediately available to every firefighter at the scene of an incident.
