Walsall Safer Communities Information Toolkit

In 2006 Walsall led on the production of an electronic reporting system to be used by external partners to sign post local issues to the responsible partner for action. The system has been updated periodically and shared with other operations areas. The system was also recognised and upheld as best practice from Government office.

Walsall Community Safety Officer Alan Paxton was instrumental in the conception and introduction of this initiative into the Brigade. Moreover he provided the training in the use of this package to Local PCSO’s, partners, street champions and operational watches. The package is used to identify the following;

  • Unsecured Void buildings
  • Fly tipping sites.
  • Abandoned Cars
  • Access for vehicles being driven off road.
  • Identifying off road dumping sites
  • Restricted access for Emergency vehicles

The reporting toolkit has been used extensively in Walsall and has assisted in the reduction of a number of multi agencies performance indicators.

It is also currently being updated to include a section for initially identifying vulnerable people
