Primary Targeted Performance Indicators
Prevention Based Activity Initiatives
Most of the work of a modern day Fire Service revolves around preventing incidents. This means that the crews from both of Solihull’s Fire Stations spend much of their time working in the community, helping to educate people in how to live safer lives.
Firefighters visit people’s homes to check that they are safe, and to fit smoke detectors if they are needed. This is all done free of charge, and in Solihull, approximately 170 homes have a Home Fire Safety Check every month. We can even fit alarms that can alert people with impaired hearing. If you would like to know more about this valuable service, please contact your local Station using the details above.
Firefighters also visit schools to educate young people on road safety. This is known as the ‘Your Choice’ programme, and it shows young people some of the consequences of incidents that happen on the roads. Your Choice is a hard hitting programme that has seen significant changes in attitudes towards road safety issues. If you would like to know more about this valuable service, please contact your local Station using the details above.
