The West Midlands Fire Service Academy can offer Initial Firefighter Training as either a full time course or via a modular approach, ensuring that new entrants to the Fire Service are safe to undertake operational duties.
Fire Authorities can make use of this modular approach by nominating candidates for an individual, selection or entire course of modules, appropriate to the needs of the individual and Fire Authority needs. All modules carry certification of completion and where appropriate, recognised industry award certificates will be issued.
All courses are run alongside National Occupational Standards and can be cross referenced to these standards. All training is undertaken under the tutorage of appropriately qualified Instructors in their specific discipline, and core skills training is delivered by staff that hold qualified teaching awards.
