Driver Training

The Academy Driver Training team offer training and assessment in a wide variety of types, classifications and applications of vehicles, enabling individuals, teams and Brigades to carry out their roles efficiently in line with
statutory requirements.

Our fleet of vehicles provide students with modern and appropriate equipment that meets the requirements. These opportunities are designed to meet the requirements of the Road Safety Act 2006, Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984 and national standards for Emergency Response Driver/Instructor Training. These opportunities also meet the requirements of the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), RTITB and Health & Safety legislation.

All training is provided by appropriately qualified instructors that have considerable experience and all staff hold appropriate qualifications and teaching awards.

Driver Training Courses

• LGV Initial – 1 week
• LGV Instructor – 2 weeks
• LGV Instructor Refresher – 1 week
• EFAD (emergency fire appliance) Initial – 2 weeks
• EFAD Instructor – 3 weeks
• EFAD Instructor Refresher – 1 week
• EFAD Assessor – 2 weeks
• Responding Officer Initial – 4 days
• Responding Officer Refresher – 2 days
