As part of the normal scheme changes the earnings bands which govern the employee’ contribution to the Local Government Pension Scheme will be amended from 1st April 2012.
Individuals will pay the relevant percentage contribution based on the band into which the Full Time salary for their job fits. For example a part time employee who has reached the maximum of Grade 8, for which the Full time salary is £20,198, will pay a contribution of 5.9%.
As the maximum values for each band have risen some scheme members may find that their contribution goes down.
