

The Local Government White Paper and the subsequent Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 set out a new performance framework for local services, which replaces Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA). The transitional year of 2008/09, is the final year of CPA, while the new arrangements are being put in place.
The new performance framework, including Comprehensive Area Assessment (CAA), focuses on reforming local services. The CAA will focus on place rather than the individual bodies responsible for local services. This means that our partnership arrangements with other local service providers will be assessed to ensure that they best support improvement within local communities.
As part of CAA our direction of travel and use of resources progress will continue to be assessed.
