Fifteen students (aged 16-18 years) learned about the consequences of anti social and irresponsible driving earlier today, during a visit to West Midlands Fire Service Headquarters.
The two hour visit included the hard-hitting ‘Your Choice: On The Road’ presentation which is aimed particularly at young people and covers topics including speeding, seat-belts, drink driving, drugs, mobile phones and attitudes to driving.
Paul Guyver, from West Midlands Fire Service, said: “Changing people’s attitudes to driving is very important so that they don’t think it is ever okay to speed, use a mobile phone or drink and drive, because the consequences of these actions can be devastating.
“The presentation has been developed to make people think about the possible consequences of their actions and make them more responsible drivers.
“While young people are a key audience, these messages are important for everyone who gets behind the wheel of a car.”
The students were from Gordon Franks Training in Birmingham.
West Midlands Fire Service works in partnership with local authorities’ road safety teams and West Midlands Police to educate people about the dangers of anti-social and irresponsible driving.
